GI Manifestations of Thyroid Disease

This activity will discuss the GI Manifestations of thyroid disease including an overview on hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, celiac disease and autoimmune gastritis, gallstones, and hepatic dysfunction.

Target Audience
This activity is intended for medical professionals who have a clinical interest in thyroid disorders as seen in the following medical specialties: endocrinology, primary care (IM, FP, GP), obstetrics/gynecology, cardiology, pediatrics, laboratory medicine, nuclear medicine, ophthalmology, neurology, psychiatry, and sleep medicine.

Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

1. Describe how thyroid disease impacts the GI tract.
2. Identify the effect of the thyroid on the liver.
3. Distinguish how autoimmune disease overlaps with the thyroid.
